Astralis defeated fnatic 2-0 in the semi-finals at the ELEAGUE Major, advancing to the grand final (19-16 on Cache and 16-5 on Nuke). The first semi-final at the ELEAGUE Major featured fnatic and Astralis who kicked off the series on Cache. The T-sided Swedes won the pistol round cleanly but Astralis won the force buy in the following round. The next time fnatic were able to have a weapon round, they won it and trailed 2-3. Astralis reset the Swedish team in the following round and a quad-kill by Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen extended his team's lead to 5-2.
After fnatic caught up with Astralis and tied the game at 6-6, the Danes went on a three round streak to finish the half 9-6 ahead. Despite their successful pistol round win in the second half, Astralis lost the anti eco (10-7). Astralis' 2vs3 buy round win extended their lead to 11-9. Astralis acquired five match points but failed to deliver and Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer defused the bomb while Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander was alive to take the match to overtime. Astralis woke up in overtime and won the map 19-16.
The second map was Nuke and fnatic started on the CT-side. Nicolai "device" Reedtz got a quad-kill in the pistol round to win it and recovered things in the first weapon round by getting a triple kill in a 3vs5 situation (4-0). Astralis dominated the T-half and won the half 12-3. Astralis won the pistol round with gla1ve's double kill and went on to win the match 16-5, eliminating fnatic and becoming the first grand-finalists. ELEAGUE Major 2017Best of 3
